How to Make a Section 75 Claim

1

Try the retailer first

Contact the retailer or service provider to try to resolve the issue. Keep records of all communications. This is not strictly required but strengthens your case.

2

Contact your credit card provider

Call the number on the back of your card or use their app/website. Ask to make a 'Section 75 claim'. Have your transaction details ready.

3

Put it in writing

Send a formal claim letter (use our template below). Include all evidence: receipts, correspondence with the retailer, photos of faulty goods.

4

Wait for their response

Your card provider has 8 weeks to respond. They may ask for additional evidence.

5

Escalate if needed

If rejected or no response within 8 weeks, complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). This is free and independent.
